About Me

Hello. I am Bruce, your friendly neighborhood training ride leader. Follow me! I'll be the one in the dorky yellow and blue helmet cover that says "Ride Leader." But its okay to be dorky if you are helping other riders train for the ride.

Hmmm, I guess this was suppose to be about me. Well in regards to biking... I love me some hills. And I love my bike. I sing it songs. And I like to keep it clean in an OC kind of way... OC, not as in Orange County, but as in OCD... obsessive and compulsive, but without the disorder. 'Cause honestly, I don't think it has to be a disorder. There ain't nothin' wrong with me lovin' my bike the way I do and engaging in some man-bike love! And now, I think I have said quite enough about me.

See you on the road, folksies.

Always trying to pick up men... or as the case may be, a tranny (the wonderous and magical Ginger) dressed as an ice cream cone. Anything lickable will do.

Why I Participate in AIDS/LifeCycle

I feel that the idea of HIV and AIDS may seem far and abstract for some of my friends. Many of them are fortunate, as am I, in our negative status. Though people with HIV and AIDS have entered and exited my life in different ways, I feel that I cannot fully comprehend the effect of this disease on my own body. I do know that as careful as I try to be, I still hold my breath with anxiety when hearing the results of my own HIV test every few months. And while I may have the support of friends and family, there are those who are less privileged, who don't have that support, don't have health insurance, or may not even know how to access healthcare. I can imagine how my life or the life of someone I love would change immediately after hearing of a positive result. It is organizations like SFAF that help give people the strength and support to know what to do next. It is these services that allow people to survive. AIDS is real and it is present. This is why I ride.
