About Me

Hi! I am a 45 year-old desk jockey that got talked into doing the AIDS Ride last year. I had never participated in any event remotely like this, nor had I been on a bike in about 20 years, but there I was, anyway. I enjoyed the training rides last year, though nobody could convince me that I could really ride my bike 545 miles. Then the ride started and I was ready. I was shocked that I was not only able to ride my bike 545 miles, I had fun doing so. I thank my training ride leaders for preparing me physically and emotionally for the ride, and I am looking forward to doing the same for new riders this year!

Why I Participate in AIDS/LifeCycle

My original motivation for participating in ALC was the physical challenge of the ride. That has now changed. After meeting the wonderful people that volunteer and work for this organization and learning all of the amazing things both the SF AIDS Foundation and the LA Gay and Lesbian Center do for people with AIDS, my motivation is to be part of and support this amazing cause.
